Astrophotography Fit

A mount for visual, solar, or EAA use where field rotation is acceptable or managed.

iOptron HAE69B iMate Dual Equatorial and Alt-Azimuth Strain Wave Mount Head is a premium strain-wave GoTo mount for pointing and tracking where field rotation is acceptable.

Alt-azimuth mounts are comfortable and fast for visual or EAA work, but long deep-sky exposures need equatorial tracking or field derotation.

Strain-wave mounts are wonderfully compact, but they still need stiffness, cable discipline, and sometimes counterweighting to keep long tubes calm.

Best paired with

  • Visual telescopes, solar scopes, and short-exposure EAA cameras
  • Stable tripod or pier with comfortable ergonomics
  • Targets where field rotation does not spoil the exposure length

Not recommended for

  • Long single-exposure deep-sky imaging without derotation or equatorial mode
  • Users expecting equatorial guiding behavior from a visual mount
  • Heavy imaging trains near the mechanical limit
