Astrophotography Fit
Best as a specialty planetary or lunar contrast filter, not a general deep-sky filter.
ZWO UV/IR Cut 2-inch Filter is a budget-friendly UV/IR cut filter (2"). Passbands: Visible 400-700 nm.
Best as a specialty planetary or lunar contrast filter, not a general deep-sky filter.
Choose filter size around the sensor diagonal, telescope speed, and filter-wheel or drawer geometry. Flats are still required; a filter can improve contrast, but it will not rescue tilt, bad focus, or poor calibration.
Best paired with
- Monochrome planetary cameras and long focal length scopes
- Good seeing, high-frame-rate capture, and derotation/stacking software
- Lunar or planetary sessions where IR contrast is useful
Not recommended for
- General color deep-sky imaging
- Visual observing without a clear contrast purpose
- Beginners looking for their first all-purpose filter
