Specifications

Mechanical

Tripod type: Carbon-fiber astronomy tripod

Compatibility

Compatibility: ZWO AM-series and compatible lightweight mounts

Use

Primary use: Portable mount support for field imaging

Astrophotography Fit

Best when it gives the mount a stiff, lightweight base without becoming the weak link in guiding.

ZWO TC40 Carbon Fiber Tripod supports the entire imaging stack, so stiffness matters as much as weight. A good tripod keeps a portable mount practical while controlling vibration from wind, focusing, and cable movement.

Match the tripod to the mount interface and payload. A premium mount on a flexible tripod will still guide like a flexible system.

Best paired with

Compatible harmonic or portable GoTo mounts
Wide-field to medium refractor rigs
Portable setups where weight and stiffness both matter

Not recommended for

Permanent piers or very heavy long focal length rigs
Adapters that compromise mount contact or leveling
Windy sites with tall extensions and overloaded payloads
